Location:
Powell Butte, Oregon. One of Central Oregon's premier
addresses. This small, strategically located, community
retains its link to its western heritage in the midst of the
phenomenal growth cities of Bend, Redmond, and Prineville.
Description:
This 79-acre ranch sits on a slight upslope on the
Prineville side of Powell Butte. The improvements on the
property have been designed and oriented to provide
unobstructed breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains
and sunsets, the likes of which are exclusive to Central
Oregon. Mature trees and landscaping complement the
executive custom-built home. The balance of the acreage and
outbuildings are dedicated to the efficient production of
hay and handling of livestock.
The Home:
Custom built in 1984, this executive style home is oriented
so that the view is directly across the open pastures and
hayfields towards the mountains and sunsets. The total
square footage is 3480 m/l which includes an attached art
studio with living quarters constructed in 2001. In
addition, there are two bedrooms with dormers and a full
bath upstairs and a master bedroom and bath on the main
level. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet.
Interior finishes include locally produced Brookwood Pine
and brick. There is a formal dining room and/or an office, a
sunroom, a mud room that includes the utilities and a half
bath, a walk-in pantry, and a refrigerator room. The island
kitchen has oak cupboards, glass top Jen-Aire, built-in
oven/microwave, and a breakfast area.
There is a large two-car attached garage with attic storage
and a garden shed for tool and wood storage. A security
system is installed in the home. A new roof, septic and new
paint were added in 2001.
Out-Buildings:
The ranch is readily adaptable to a horse, cattle, sheep or
exotic animal operation. There is a newer 34' X 60' hay shed
that will cover approximately 100 tons of hay.
The barn has four stalls and a tack room. There is water
piped in to the barn.
All metal panels are included with the property. Adjacent to
the barn, there is a nicely designed corral with a
squeeze-chute and individual animal scale
Water Rights:
The ranch is served by the Central Oregon Irrigation
District with more than 63 acres of irrigation rights. The
present owners have used this water in the production of
high-quality grass hay, raising approximately 150 tons per
year. They have cut the hay twice a year, then rotated into
cattle pasture. This program produces enough feed for the
cattle year round, and, in addition, they have enough hay
for off-site sales. The owners raised about twenty pair of
cattle under this operation.
Wildlife:
Lots of wildlife frequent the ranch. On occasion, you will
see a stray herd of elk, but the abundant residents are
deer, quail, rock chucks, and, in the late summer and fall,
migrating geese will stop off in the pasture.
Miscellaneous:
If you have lots of friends who like to come and visit,
don't send them away as the Red Rock Ranch has three full RV
hookups.
Taxes:
The
property taxes for the 2005-2006 tax-year were $2,711.33.
